A European conference between Christians and Muslims will be held in Malines/Brussels (Belgium) from 20th to 23rd October, about "Being European citizens and believers. Christians and Muslims as active partners in European societies”. The news was relayed by the Joint Committee of the Conference of the European Churches (Kek) and the Council of European Bishops Conferences (Ccee), which, during a meeting in London from 21st to 24th February, reviewed and approved this is stated in the release published today the work-plan of the Ccee/Kek Committee for relations with the Muslims in Europe. "The conference explains to SIR mgr. Aldo Giordano, secretary general of Ccee will address the theme of laicism, the relation between religion and laicism, between the values and the State. This initiative came from the Christian community, but Muslims should also be involved in the preparations for the meeting because we want to talk on an equal footing and compare the Christian voice with the Muslim one. So a preliminary meeting will be held in April in Budapest, which will be attended by some Muslim on behalf of the different Muslim areas that exist in Europe as well as its different traditions".
