"In the rooms at our Kousseri parish, there are 2,700 people coming from Chad, and the diocese Caritas is starting operating to get the first aids". The Chad dramatic crisis is told by Father Barthélemy, vicar of the Yagoua diocese, in the North of Cameroon, at the border with N’Djamena. Most of refugees are coming from the capital of Chad, crossing the Chari River, escaping after a still continuing coup d’état carried out by three anti-government rebel groups. Father Barthélemy is collecting food to take the first aids to Kousseri. On the whole, from 15,000 to 20,000 people from Chad are said to have been arrived in Kousseri in the last 48 hours (source: UNO). On the other hand, disjointed news are coming from Chad today. Father Renzo Piazza, Combonian, is currently in N’Djamena. As most of foreign operators, he cannot circulate freely for security reasons. "The city of N’Djamena is becoming a ghost he said to Italian Caritas -, but there are still many people in the streets. There are rumours about a huge number of civilian victims. And they fear another attack by the rebels". The Italian Caritas launched an appeal to the Cameroon Caritas and the Chad Caritas, for operations in favour of Chadian refugees in Cameroon and Sudanese refugees Chad. www.caritasitaliana.it
