The "choice not to get involved in any political coalitions or parties" does not imply the "cultural diaspora of the Catholics", but is "a task of the greatest importance", not just in relation with "great challenges" such as war and terrorism, but also with respect to the "risk of political and legislative choices contradicting fundamental values and the anthropological as well as ethical principles rooted in the nature of the human being, in particular, in relation with the defence of human life at all its stages, and with the promotion of the family based on marriage, avoiding to introduce other kinds of unions into the public system. Those unions would foster family destabilization". The Italian bishops confirmed that at the end of the Permanent Council taking place in Rome from 10th to 13th March. In Italy, on April 13th and 14th, there are the elections for renewing the parliament. Among the other topics scheduled in the bishops’ agenda, there are the necessity to "awaken educational passion" in adults, above all, with respect to the adolescents and the young; the commitment "to intercept the thirst for God" that is present, though “veiled”, in our times; defence of health as "currently burning subject”, bound to condition political choices, too, in the future". The next assembly of CEI is taking place in Rome from May 26th to 30th.
