BENEDICT XVI: APPEAL FOR TIBET, "THE SADNESS AND PAIN OF A FATHER"

"I am following with great trepidation the news that are coming from Tibet these days. My fatherly heart feels sadness and pain before the sufferings of so many people". It was said this morning by Pope Benedict XVI, at the end of the Wednesday audience. "The mystery of the passion and death of Jesus, which we relive in this Holy Week – said the Pope –, helps us be particularly sensitive to their situation". Then, the Pope makes an appeal: "Violence will not solve problems, it will only aggravate them. Please join me in prayer. Let’s ask God Almighty, the source of light, to enlighten everyone’s minds and give everyone the courage to choose the way of dialogue and tolerance".
