The European Buddhist Union makes an appeal for solidarity with the Tibetan people, "our brothers and sisters in Dharma", and launches a firm condemnation of the "violent repression of what is a legitimate protest against a persistent Chinese occupation of Tibet". In a release published today by the Italian Buddhist Union (Ubi), the European Buddhists make a number of requests. "We appeal reads the note to the government of the People’s Republic of China asking it to release all the political prisoners. In addition, we beg the brave people of Tibet to be strong and abide by Buddha’s teachings about non-violence. We ask the ministers and governments to do all that is in their power to stop the current repression and start talks with the Dalai Lama as the Tibetan leader. We ask everyone to take care of making sure that what is happening will receive due attention, to avoid further suffering and bloodshed". ” “
