BISHOP ABDUCTED IN IRAQ: SAKO (KIRKUK), "STOP THE WAR!"

“From the Iraqi tragedy, from the suffering of a whole population, we are crying out to the whole world: stop the war! Stop the abductions, stop killing innocent people. Let’s learn to live well between us as our religions teach us”. Five days after the abduction of the archbishop of Mosul, mgr. Rahho, “the Christian community in Iraq, which is suffering so much, has not lost hope in a quick release”. This was stated to SIR by mgr. Louis Sako, bishop of Kirkuk, who says that "this sorrowful event shows that we can talk and proves that Christians and Muslims can be friends”. “Over these days, Christians and Muslims are joining forces to make their voice be heard, for the release of mgr. Rahho”. “At the time of the ordeal, of uncertainty and fear – he states –, as pastors, let’s keep assisting our people. And with Psalm 57, let’s cry out: in the shadow of your wings I take shelter, until the calamity is gone”.
