"H2onews", the new Catholic news service designed to produce and broadcast for free, every day, to the Catholic TVs, websites and radio stations news in audio, video and text formats in 8 languages about the life of the Church and the social and cultural events that concern the life of the Catholics in the world, has been presented in Rome today. "The project explained mgr. Enrique Plana, general coordinator came into being after the world congress of the Catholic TVs in Madrid in 2006. H2onews is a digital platform the essence of which is to create a cooperative movement with the involvement of the Catholic mass media across the world, such as Salt & Light Tv, Popular television, Kto, Ewtn, Cançao Nova, Radio Vaticana and Centro televisivo vaticano. The latter, the Vatican TV, will freely offer news about the Pope and the Holy See". The initiative although independent of it "is favourably looked upon" by the Holy See as stated by mgr. Claudio Maria Celli, president of the Papal Council for social communication. "The new service uses only staff from the different TVs that will send their news services for free", explained Jesus Colina, the editor in chief, who announced "the birth, shortly, of a Catholic ‘You tube’ where everyone will be able to share their videos".
