SPAIN: CONCAPA, THOSE WHO DEFEND FREDEOM ARE WINNING AGAINST THE EPC

After the election which will take place in Spain on 9th March, the Catholic parents will ask the Government to "suppress" the subject "Education to citizenship" (Epc) or at most that such subject will be made "optional": it was stated yesterday by the president of Concapa (Confederation of Catholic Parents), Luis Carbonel, in commenting the ruling of the Supreme Court of Andalusia, which recognised the parents’ right not to make their children attend the class of Education to Citizenship. A ruling that proves, according to Carbonel, that "those who defend freedom are winning the battle". The president of Concapa reported that some parents who want to object against the subject as conscientious objectors, have been "threatened" by some independent administrations. Jaime Urcelay, president of the professionals for ethics (PpE), said he intends to "send to the farthest corner of Spain" the information required to object to the Epc.
