EXPO 2015: GIACOMASSI (CISL), "A POSITIVE FACT BUT DIFFICULTIES ARE STARTING NOW"

EXPO 2015 assigned to Milan "is an acknowledgement of the cross-party commitment with which the candidature was prepared in the last few months". Fulvio Giacomassi, secretary general of Milan CISL (trade union), commented the "very good news" coming from the Paris Bureau International des Expositions yesterday, and added: "EXPO is a positive fact for both Milan and the whole Italy system. However, difficulties are starting now. It is now necessary to do things in such a way that the organization of the event will become a growth a development opportunity, on both the social and economic level, for the whole land. There must be no room for any speculations". Giacomassi recalled that the trade union in the capital of Lombardy "prepared a draft agreement with the Commune and the organizational committee long ago, based on working themes. It is true that the event will generate new employment, but it must not be a disposable event. It must comply with well-defined security and contractual correctness criteria, also with a view to the fact that it will concern the building sector in a special way". For this reason, concluded the CISL secretary, "We want to be present and state our opinion at all stages approaching 2015".
