SPAIN: 314 THOUSAND SIGNATURES FOR LAWS BY PEOPLE’S INITIATIVE IN FAVOUR OF PREGNANT WOMENT

The 17 laws by people’s initiative proposed all over Spain in favour of pregnant women exceeded 314 thousand signatures. In the last few days, it was announced by the Spanish Forum for the Family (FEF), which announced also that the law by people’s initiative in the Castile and Leon community reached 40,600 signatures. FEF actually recalled that the Electoral Committee of Castile and Leon certified over 40,600 signatures at the end of February. The Committee submitted the document to the Commission promoting the "ReteMadre" law by people’s initiative, which creates and govern a supporting network for pregnant women. On the whole, 15,600 signatures exceeding the ones required by law were collected. The 17 laws by people’s initiative, one for every independent community, intend "to promote the creation of a real solidarity network all over Spain, supporting pregnant women (ReteMadre), and helping them feel free to seek and identify alternative solutions with respect to abortion", owing to the problems which may arise from unpredicted pregnancy.
