"We must reassert the values supporting society in an urgent manner, so as to offer youth and adults a solid moral training. Everybody has a role to play within that task, not just parents, religious guides, teachers and catechists, but also the news and entertainment industry": that was the admonition by the Pope in his speech for the United States bishops, delivered at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington yesterday evening. According to Benedict XVI, "taking really care of the young and the future of our civilization means acknowledging our responsibility to promote and live those real and moral values which are the only ones rendering the human person capable of flourishing". Then, the Pope invited the bishops to guide the priests "during this difficult times" in which "many people perceive to have lost much of that trust which they once had". "Strengthening the relationships with your priests" is the Pope’s exhortation, showing them "your support and your guide by means of example" and prayer.
