The situation in Tibet and in Lebanon, and the role of the EU; Croatia’s approach to Brussels; support to small- and medium-sized companies. These are some of the items on the agenda of the plenary session of the European Parliament, to be held in the Belgian capital on April 9th and 10th. The premises of the Assembly have hosted over these days a debate between MEPs and MPs of the 27 member states about terrorism and security and some initiatives for the World Day of Romanies. On several occasions, Parliament has voiced his support of these populations, not least because the nomads are mostly EU members. This morning, a meeting was held with the "Vaya con dios" group of artists to ask for "common initiatives for the inclusion of the Romanies". In the meantime, the collection of signatures is going on, to produce a written statement which might become the official position of Parliament, which invites the Council of Europe "to put an end to the problem of the homeless by 2015" and the member states "to develop emergency winter plans" as part of a strategy to face the situation of the thousands of homeless people.
