Twenty-one young people from Europe, Israel and Palestine will be in the premises of the EU Parliament in Brussels from 25th to 28th May for a talk about diversity and cultural and political inclusion. The initiative, promoted by the president of the Assembly, Hans-Gert Poettering, is part of the 2008 Year of Intercultural Dialogue programme. This meeting explains Poettering offers politically-committed young people "a unique opportunity for an exchange of political and personal experiences and for creating some interpersonal relations". The meeting will last four days and will include discussions between young people, meetings with MEPs, discussions on mutual acquaintance, the exchange of cultures and traditions, the building of democracy and peace, and the respect of human rights. According to the schedule, the discussions will be focussed on the many, widespread relations between the identities of the young guests. At the end of the event, the participants will be able to draw up a joint message to be discussed with president Poettering, "including their recommendations, to be submitted to the European union and to the political leaders of their countries".
