"Better careers and more mobility: a European partnership for researchers": today, the EU Commission presented a report which anticipates a closer cooperation with the member states in order "to improve the contribution of science and technology to a knowledge-based economy". That’s why investments need to be made in "human resources" in this area. "Europe is confronted by increasing worldwide competition for the best talents explains Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik -. Some shared priority actions should make the EU more attractive for researchers and enable them to be more mobile between countries and organisations, and between the academic and private sectors". The main proposed actions "aim to regularly open recruitments, deal with the mobile researchers’ need for social security and pensions, create fair employment and working conditions, and make sure researchers have proper training and skills". Such partnership will have to be checked in 2010, so as to review its results and correct it where needed.
