A delegation of "City Angels" volunteers, led by poetess Marianna d’Antuono, is being received in audience by Benedict XVI tomorrow, 18th June. It was announced by the volunteer association itself, established in Milan in 1994 by initiative of Mario Furlan, journalist and university teacher. This association is present in eight Italian towns (and nine with Naples, where it is starting off on 4th July). They are the first street emergency voluntary organization helping the outcast and preventing crimes. Their symbol which they are giving to the Pope tomorrow is a blue beret or cap, symbolizing the UNO forces bringing peace, and a red T-shirt or jacket with their logo on, an eagle protecting the city. 60% of volunteers are male and 30% are foreigners, aging from 20 to 45. They define themselves "a multiracial, multiethnic and multireligious association", working "in harmony for the good of their city". ” “
