CATHOLIC RADIO CONGRESS: BENEDICT XVI, "THE WORD" AS INSTRUMENT "TO START RELATIONSHIPS"

” ” ” “"The numerous and several kinds of communication all of us have to face show us clearly enough that man, in his essential anthropological structure, was made up to start relationships with his neighbour". That is what happens "above all, by means of the word". Those words were spoken this morning by Pope Benedict XVI, while receiving in audience, at the Vatican, the participants in the Congress of Catholic Radios, in progress at the Papal "Università Urbaniana" (from yesterday until tomorrow) by initiative of the Papal Council of social communications. "In its simplicity and apparent poverty, – added the Pope –, the word, included in the common grammar of language, is the instrument carrying out the relation skills of men. Those skills are rooted in the shared richness of reason created in the image of the eternal Logos of God, that is, the Logos in which everything is created freely and for love". Benedict XVI reminded the present of the importance of their "information service"; the radio, pointed out in the initial greetings Msgr. Claudio Maria Celli, president of the Papal Council, is "fully included" among the "new media", but at the same time, "it is the most familiar means which is closer to the word, which is the first and most important kind of communication among human beings".
