RELIGIOUS FREEDOM: BIN TALAL (RIIF JORDAN), "A NEW CULTURE OF DIALOGUE IS URGENTLY NEEDED"

In a global society like ours, in which the new technology enables people to easily communicate, mixing with and influencing each other at an amazing rate, it is increasingly essential to create a new culture of dialogue. From this perspective, religion is a fundamental junction. This sums up the statement made by Hasan Abu Ni’mah, director of the Royal institute for inter-faith studies (Riifs), an institution that Prince el-Hassan bin Talal had founded to study and implement the relationship between Christianity and Islam in the Arab world. As he spoke in Amman today on the final day of the meeting of the Scientific Committee of the Oasis centre of the Patriarchate of Venice, the director of Riifs pointed out that "any religion is a fundamental institution and a point of reference for morality, values and the principles of conduct and life.
