” “"Religious freedom: towards a European Islam?": experts and priests from many different countries will address this subject during an international meeting at Villa Cagnola di Gazzada (Varese, Italy) on July 4th and 5th. The Study Centre of the Holy See, which for thirty years has hosted conferences, courses and research sessions on European integration and intercultural dialogue, will host, among others, father Samir Khalil Samir, Sumaya Abdel Qader, mgr. Gianfranco Bottoni, Khaled Fouad Allam, who will also take part in a round table the evening of Friday 4th July. "It is a process which we went a long way about – explains the director of Villa Cagnola, mgr. Luigi Mistò – and which is perfectly consistent with the very purpose of this centre, which has always given its contribution to reflection and to the building of the European common house". "The goal we want to pursue, taking as long as we need to listen to all the different positions – adds Mistò –, is to find out what steps we must take with a view to the building of a European Islam, able to make its contribution to the birth of the new Europe".
