On 4th July, at the end of the Summer University promoted by the Council of Europe, the European Association of the Schools of Political Studies will be opened in Strasbourg. These schools, which are supported by the CoE, "aim to train the new generations of political, economic, social and cultural leaders in transition countries". The first one was set up in Moscow in 1992, and the others have come up in the former Communist countries, in order to lead such countries to democracy. Today, schools of political studies exist, as well as in Russia, also in Georgia, Bulgaria, Moldavia, Kosovo, Fyrom, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Albania, Romania, Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Montenegro. A school has been recently opened in Belarus. "These schools states a note from the CoE organise courses, workshops and conferences on European integration, democracy, human rights, constitutional law and globalisation", with national and international experts as guests.
