BENEDICT XVI: TO FAO, "ONLY THE PROTECTION OF THE HUMAN BEING CAN FIGHT HUNGER (2)

As a consequence, "one could take bold measures, that will not surrender to hunger and malnutrition, as if they were just endemic phenomena which have no solution". In addition, according to the Pope, "the defence of human dignity in international actions, including emergency actions, would help measure the unnecessary against the perspective of other people’s needs and to administer according to justice the fruits of creation, providing them to all generations". From this perspective, Benedict XVI wishes the guest delegations "will undertake new goals and will set out to accomplish them with great firmness". The Catholic Church, on its part, "wishes to join these efforts" "in a spirit of cooperation" and in response to an appeal "that remains very of the moment: ‘Feed those who are starving to death, because, if you do not feed them, you will have killed them’". "In this process – ensured the Pope –, you can rely on the contribution of the Holy See", which intends "to encourage every people to share the needs of the other peoples, sharing the fruits of the earth that the Maker has created for the whole human family".
