Bishop Descubes continues his reflection, recalling that "the time of pregnancy involves a very strong, progressive relationship between a pregnant woman and the child that is growing in her womb". "During this time he explains she becomes aware that she has become the mother of her child who is the result of her fertilisation". Woman "is neither a nest nor an incubator", warns the French prelate. "What will be the real and symbolic place of a child who is in a relation with a couple of "foster" parents, with the children of this couple and with the couple who foster him?", wonders mgr. Descubes. Such relations turn out to be hard to conceive, both psychologically and legally. "Our modern society comments the French bishop thinks science can regulate all sufferings and has the last word on everything. Doesn’t using foster motherhood mean exploiting a child’s birth to finally solve in a delusory manner the tragedy and desperation of sterility?".
