125 thousand international pilgrims, over 100 thousand Australian ones, 8000 volunteers, 2000 representatives of the clergy, and about 3,000 accredited journalists. It is 41 days to the start, and the World Youth Day of Sydney (15-20 July) increasingly promises to be the biggest event ever held in Australia, even bigger than the 2000 Olympic Games. While registrations are still open, as reported by the WYD Organising Committee to SIR, 10 countries will be the most widely represented. Top of this list obviously are young Australians, favoured by the "home factor", followed by young people from the United States, Italy, Germany, the Philippines, Spain, New Zealand, France, Canada and Poland.
