"Certain, let’s say, theoretical or theological positions explained Msgr. Pezzi are then followed by some assumed practical positions. However, I would say the toughest obstacle is the scarce desire to walk towards full communion which can generally be noticed". And this is because "sometimes the preoccupation to defend one’s positions, or the will to stay apart, separate from each other, seems to prevail. And if there is no real desire to walk towards full communion, of course, dialogue becomes more difficult. On the other hand, if this desire is real, then one may start facing dialogue with honesty and sincerity, and always remaining within truth". Even though "there are certainly a few problems which we are not able to solve", it is also true that "there is no attitude of demonization of the other, as though it was an enemy or an adversary". Anyway, "the most important thing" is "strengthening the wish to walk together". Another positive element is that the Russian Orthodox "see the Pope under a very positive light", for his "continuous analysis of the sources of Christianity with a sense of renewal", and for "his clarity and his frankness, when he affirms the contents of the Christian event and of the Catholic faith": clearness and sincerity help us to "identify and face" difficulties to overcome.
