Starting in Spain today until September, a campaign of the ‘Aid to the Suffering Church’ association, "The revolution of the Gospel", aiming to "raise public awareness in Spain of the situation of the Catholics in the Caribbean country as well as to fund 22 projects worth 208,500 euros in ten dioceses of the country". The projects cover five macro-areas: the first one is the infrastructure required for celebrations, training, meetings, and includes the restoration or rebuilding of churches and ecclesial facilities. The second one concerns the mass media. The third one refers to one of the big challenges of the Cuban Church: the training of priests, religious and lay people. This covers such projects as the printing of 700 thousand catechistic calendars for 2009, so that the devotees may take part in the life of the Church. Another area of action is that of the support to priests, religious and lay people. By supporting pastoral workers, the community can operate. The last area concerns sending to the Cuban priests intentions for Masses to celebrate. This contribution will support the Cuban priests and will help them hold pastoral initiatives in their parishes and communities.
