"Every time, it is a special emotion to attend a WYD": these are the words of card. Christoph Schönborn, president of the Austrian Bishops Conference, as he leaves for Australia, along with the young people and the seminarians who will take part in the event. 750 young Austrians have left over these days to attend the WYD in Sydney. "I have been driven to go to Australia by the experience of the latest WYD of Cologne, where it was unbelievably exciting for me to be able to celebrate and experience faith with so many other young people. And to meet the Pope, of course. The fact all this is in Sydney, at the opposite end of the world, makes it even more fantastic", stated Florian Vorisek, who left on 9th July with the group of card. Schönborn. The latter said he is certain that the Australian WYD will have an impact on Europe as well: These days can have an impact on anyone who takes part. Since the WYDs have existed, since 1984, many things have happened as a result of the Youth Days. We have found great guidance for faith, for life. I think the experience of these WYDs has been something extremely important for a whole generation of young Catholics".
