BENEDICT XVI: XXIII WYD, FLYING TO AUSTRALIA (2)

In the afternoon, the Pope will board a ship, called the "Sydney 2000", and will sail to the Barangaroo East Darling Harbour in Sydney to be officially welcomed by the young people gathered for WYD. The following day, there will be a private Mass in the Chapel of St. Mary’s Cathedral House followed by a number of private audiences with the Governor and Premier of New South Wales, as well as the Mayor of Sydney and their families, in the Reception Hall of St. Mary’s Cathedral House. In the morning, there will be an ecumenical meeting in the Cathedral’s Crypt followed by a meeting with the representatives of other religions in the Chapter House. In the afternoon, the Way of the Cross will take place in the square in front of Sydney’s St. Mary’s Cathedral. Saturday July 19 Mass will be celebrated with the Australian bishops in St. Mary’s Cathedral and in the evening there will be a wake with WYD youngsters at Sydney’s Randwick Horsetrack. Sunday will be the day of the final celebration with young people from around the world. The trip back is scheduled for July 21, after the Pope’s meeting with WYD volunteer workers. ” ” ” “
