"The EU and the fight against the proliferation of weapons of mass destructions and their carriers": this is the title of the workshop promoted by the French Presidency of the EU Council, due in Paris on 15 and 16 July. "The EU strategy against the proliferation of weapons of mass destructions adopted in 2003 revolves around supporting the non-proliferation treaties, but the adoption of effective measures to enforce it is still inadequate", explains a message from the Presidency. "The purpose of this workshop is to find actions to be taken to complete the existing devices, in order to adopt", during this six months’ term, "a EU-wide action plan to fight the proliferation" of such weapons. The French government too is promoting a conference on: "Public media in the digital era". The event, due in Strasbourg on 17 and 18 July, intends "to arouse a debate and contribute to the development of an agreement among the EU member states. This means finding new media-developing strategies" so that "the European audiovisual model full of national traditions" may "keep adapting to the technological and service breakthroughs".
