To coincide with WYD, now being celebrated in Sydney, the youth of the diocese of Madrid are meeting in the cathedral of Santa María la Real de la Almudena, those of Pamplona in the Castello di Javier, those of Santiago di Compostela in the Minor Seminary of Belvís, and those of Huelva in the Aldea del Rocio. These are just some of the chosen venues for the meeting of Spanish youth who were unable to travel to Sydney but wish to experience something of WYD all the same.
Prayer vigils, eucharistic celebrations, confessions and concerts are planned for all these diocesan meetings, and there will also be video links with Sydney for the mass with the Pope. "Many youngsters say the coordinators of the youth pastoral office of the Spanish Bishops’ Conferences will thus be able to experience something of the universality of the Church and her being a pilgrim in the world".
