(From our correspondents in Sydney) – Petar Gakovic talks about the wounds which the "long years of war" left in Serbia. "A few years ago he said, – it looked like there was nothing else to do anymore, for the Catholic community in my country", which became "a small minority" in spite of a long history behind its shoulders. "In front of a world with a cold heart, incapable of welcoming the message of the Gospel he noticed we should have thought it was impossible to convert our land. But faith and prayer changed our vision of the nation". "We took into consideration the Holy Spirit he added for Him to show us what to do. We have trusted Him and will always trust Him, because He is the only one who knows how to take care of His people". Thus reassured, "for many years, we have been going on working to promote faith. We have invited lots of generations and lots of other Christians to take part in our project". "We placed our hopes in His mercy concluded Petar and every day we wonder: ‘God, what are You asking us to do now?’. And we implore Him to go on giving us the fruits of this new spring".
