According to the archbishop of Beograd, the Catholics are also living amidst thousands of difficulties: "The Catholic Church is very clearly a minority, and is scarcely taken into consideration in Europe. The Catholics in Serbia, though subject to sufferings of any sort, feel somewhat forgotten by the Churches of the other countries; in spite of that, they work much for reconciliation, and since they find themselves at the border between the West and the Orient, for the promotion of Christian unity and for dialogue with Islam". Europe should not limit itself to encouraging joining the European Union went on the bishop, – but it should also concretely help the population; at the same time, from the international community and from the Universal Church, we Catholics expect more and more moral support and material aid". But for all that, he concluded, "among other things, it is necessary to surpass a widespread prejudice against Serbia: the whole population cannot pay for the crimes made by someone".
