SYDNEY 2008: 30 NATIONAL RALLIES: ON 14TH JULY, THE FRENCH COMMEMORATE THE STORMING OF THE BASTILLE

Just 12 days to go, and the WYD of Sydney (15-20 July) adds up more events to its official schedule. These are over 30 nationwide rallies that will attract, over several days, virtually all of the young people present there. As reported today by the WYD Organising Committee, the rallies will be held in Sydney from 12 to 26 July. The largest rally should be the one of new-catechumenal youth, with 25 thousand people (21 July, at the Domain), followed by the Lebanese Maronite community, with 20 thousand people (13 July, at the Parramatta stadium), and that of American young people, 12 thousand people, at the Domain (19 July). On 16 July, the Italians, who are 10 thousand, will fill up the Sydney entertainment centre for the "Italian Feast", while on July 14, the 4 thousand French will meet at the Sydney Convention centre to celebrate the storming of the Bastille. The exclusive Bondi Beach will be the scene of the rally of young Franciscans, with about 10 thousand of them expected to go, while Asians, 8 thousand, will meet at the Olympic Park, in the city. Other rallies have been organised by the Chinese, Vietnamese, new Zealanders, as well as by the Legionaries of Christ and several youth and family movements. For more details, visit www.wyd2008.org.
