Young Poles who cannot go to Australia to meet the Pope in Sydney may gather in Warsaw instead, as it will be linked by satellite to the Australian capital. It was announced by mgr. Kazimierz Nycz, archbishop of Warsaw, inviting young people to meet in the capital of Poland. "I hope this meeting will make them live a great religious and ecclesial experience and on the other hand I also hope it will be a day of joy and an important educational experience", stated archbishop Nycz. On 19th and 20th July, Warsaw will host a number of events targeted to the young: Holy Mass by satellite link from Sydney on large screens installed along the Vistula, debates and discussions, plays and concerts. All through the previous week, meetings of prayer and reflection, evangelisation events by young people will be held all over Warsaw. In Sydney, the young Poles will be represented by approximately 2 thousend people, over 250 priests and 5 bishops. After the WYD, all the people who have taken part in the WYD, both those who have come back from Australia and those who have gathered in Warsaw, will meet in the Sanctuary of Jasna Gora in Czestochowa for a solemn thanksgiving liturgy.
