Can ecumenism in Europe still arouse the interest of the mass media, and has the work of the Churches within the European institutions enough visibility? These questions are the focus of the meeting of the press officers of the European Christian Churches, due to take place in Geneva from September 5th to 17th. It will be attended by over 40 press officers and communication directors of the Anglican, Orthodox and Protestant Churches which are members of Kek (Conference of European Churches). "The idea explains to SIR Luca Negro, spokesman for Kek is to reflect together on how the Churches can have an impact in their communication, especially in Europe. In particular, our goal is to draw more media attention to what the Churches do and propose in Europe, for instance in their relation with the European institutions. In addition, one of our goals is to revive communication on ecumenism, which seems to be in a crisis, while in fact it is a reality to be revived as a positive fact. Even if no big events are taking place, the daily life of the ecumenical movement is an extremely lively and rich reality. There is a very tight network of ecumenical relations. We hope these meetings too will help us find ways to give visibility to this network".
