"I rejoice in seeing that one of your priorities said Benedict XVI is actually the youth and vocational pastoral". In this respect, it is fair to devote "seminarians the human and material means which are necessary to help them acquire a solid inner life and an appropriate intellectual and doctrinal training, especially in relation to the nature and identity of the sacerdotal ministry". After thanking the religious for their evangelization "zeal and love", the Pope pointed out the importance of the laymen’s collaboration to spread the Christian message. "A remarkable aspect of the typical laymen’s mission he added is serving society by exercising politics". Therefore, it is necessary to encourage them "to live this important dimension of social charity with responsibility and devotion", for the human community "to progress in justice, probity, defence of real, true values, as well as protection of human life, marriage and family, thus fostering the real human and spiritual heritage of the whole society". Finally, there was also an invitation to bishops to be "the lively and close image of Christ’s charity for all your brothers, and above all, the ones who suffer most, the outcast, the old, the infirm and the people in prisons".
