CCEE: END-OF-SEPTEMBER PLENARY ASSEMBY IN ESZTERGOM ABOUT THE CHURCH AND MEDIA

"The Church and media as common service for truth" is the subject of the plenary assembly of the presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE) scheduled in Esztergom (Hungary) from next 30th September to 3rd October. "On the occasion – it is written in a note made known today – the results of the European survey promoted by CCEE at the Bishops’ Conferences will be presented; the survey is meant to define how media perceive the Church in Europe", as well as the communication instruments of Bishops’ Conferences. The activities of CEEM (European Bishops’ Media Commission), of the Commissions of the pastoral of migrations, for school and university", and of the European Service for vocations will thus be presented. Projects of collaboration with Churches in Africa and Latin America are also on agenda. Moreover, the first Catholic-Orthodox Forum (Trento, Italy, 11-14 December, 2008), and the Islam-Christian Conference (Malines-Brussels, 20-23 October, 2008) will be presented. The people in charge of COMECE (Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Community) will introduce the subject of European institutions and of the EU unification process. During the meeting, the new secretary general of CCEE will be elected. On October 2nd, the CCEE presidents are meeting the President of the Hungarian Republic.
