CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: TV SPOTS ON THE VALUE OF TOLERANCE DURING MATCH INTERVALS ” “” ” ” “

” ” A Tv spot to sensitize European citizens on the value of tolerance and on the role of languages "as bridges between people". The initiative is being undertaken within the European Year of Cultural Dialogue by the EU Commission, UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), and the Football Association against Racism in Europe. The short spot "shows us three groups of football supporters caught at the most exciting time of a match: in spite of their different cultures, origins and languages, those supporters share love for football and live matches in the same way". "A sense of common belonging based on language and cultural differences – added Multilingualism Commissioner Leonard Orban – is a powerful antidote to intolerance". The 30-second TV spot will be broadcast during the intervals of the 125 Champions League matches, as of September 16th, 2008, until the finals in May 2009. Therefore, the potential audience is equal to 140 million people for every week in which they play Champions League matches. Just in Europe, forty countries will broadcast it. (To be continued)
