As for the fear for the reactions which a few speeches by the Holy Father (scheduled in the agenda) might arise in the country, the cardinal said: "The Pope says things serenely and clearly; he never wants to provoke or cause polemics. He is a man who knows how to listen and meet the currents of thought of our time". In the meantime, the French daily "Le Parisien" publishes a poll carried out by CSA on September 3rd and 4th: the majority of French (53%) have got either a "high" or "quite high" opinion of the Pope. On the other hand, 25% of the interviewed said to have a low opinion of the Pope. Of course, the percentage of the people with high opinions grows among the Catholic population, achieving 65%. Finally, over three fourths of French believe Benedict XVI is conservative. A judgement by the people of all ages it is written in the report , which is "undoubtedly linked with the impact of the acceptance of the Latin Mass on the French general public". The survey was carried out by telephone and with a sample of 1,002 people aged over 15.
