Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi was in Motta di Campodolcino yesterday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Europe, opened in 1958 by the then bishop of Milan, Giovan Battista Montini. The cardinal began by quoting his predecessor’s speech: "A passage that might still be relevant: "We have embraced the wars Montini said because our youth dreamt of particularism, nationalism and selfishness, and one day they burst into bombs and burst into hatred. Do dream of love, dream of brotherhood, dream of peace, dream of unity, dream of all the fine, great, good things humanity can ever wish for in a Christian light, in a human light…". Tettamanzi added: "I want to make these words my own, and thus pay tribute to Paul VI, 30 years after his death". (continued)
