” ” The text is the outcome of five working years (from 1999 to 2004), and was carried out by the International Commission of Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Churches of the Anglican Communion (ARCIC), established in 1970 by Pope Paul VI and by the archbishop of Canterbury of the time, Michael Ramsey. Today, it is the official instrument of theological dialogue between Catholics and Anglicans. In the text, Catholics and Anglicans recognize "Mary as model of holiness, faith and obedience for all Christians", and state that "Mary may be seen as a prophetic figure of the Church". The document also faces (though without solving them completely) the problems connected with the Marian dogmas of Immaculate Conception, Assumption and Marian devotion within the Catholic Church. However, in the conclusion, there is the hope that the agreement reached will foster Catholics and Anglicans "to grasp the opportunity of further reconciliation: the points concerning the doctrine and devotion to Mary should no longer be seen as dividing the communion, or as obstacles to a new step in the growth towards the visible koinonia".
