"Europe and its religious expansion in the North American continent" is the title of the XXX European Week, which Fondazione Ambrosiana Paolo VI and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore will be promoting from today (until September 6th) at Villa Cagnola Gazzada (Varese) with the participation of many scholars and experts of international repute from several countries. Many items are on the agenda: from the European colonial expansion in the New Continent to the French and Jesuit missions; from the spreading of Catholicism and Protestantism to the rites of conversion and indigenisation of Christianity as well as some reflections on the enculturation of Orthodoxy, the Jewish presence and the Islamism of the African Americans. Speakers will include Cesare Alzati of Università Cattolica; Bernard Plongeron (Institut Catholique de Paris); David Noel Doyle (University College, Dublin) and Olivier Servais (Université Catholique de Louvain).
