"Go on with the efforts to adjust the development plans to the reality of Africa and form a true partnership, in which the African countries will not be simply the recipients of externally-planned ideas and aids, but the true authors of their own development". This is the invitation made today by mgr. Celestino Migliore, head of the delegation of the Holy See, at the high-level meeting at the 63rd UN General Assembly, that took place in New York yesterday, about: "Requirements for the development of Africa: the progress of commitments, challenges and future plans". "The development of Africa began mgr. Migliore is a great opportunity for the whole world, because of its human resources and its climatic and cultural diversity". Africa actually is the "youngest" continent, 69% of its population being under 25 years old. "In some African countries commented the Vatican delegate , growth has kept pace with and even surpassed that of the developed countries". A "growth", this one, that, according to the Holy See, is "not just due to the improvement in the conditions for the trade of raw materials, but also to a general improvement in its ruling methods".
