"New technology, new relations. Promoting a culture of respect, dialogue, friendship". This is the subject that Benedict XVI has chosen for the 43rd 2009 World Day of Social Communication. Today, the feast of the archangels Gabriel, Raphael and Michael, according to tradition, the title of the subject of the 43rd Day is only announced, while the Pope’s message will be relayed later on, on January 24th, the day of Saint Francis of Sales, the patron of journalists. "More than a simple subject, I think the Pope has placed a veritable work-plan in front of us". This is the first comment of archbishop Claudio Maria Celli, president of the Papal Council for Social Communication. According to mgr. Celli, the Pope’s is "a summary of the commitments and responsibilities that communication and communication men are called to take on personally, at a time that is so powerfully affected by the new media technology "which actually creates a new environment, a new culture. One might somehow say that today the Pope is asking the communication people what he asked during the meeting with the world of culture in Paris, that is, to take a truly philosophic attitude; to look beyond the penultimate things and search for the ultimate ones, the true ones".
