"The challenge thrown by the development of the social global policy, referring to the EU project for a European Social Model and the role Europe should play in a global world, is the subject of the III Yearly Conference on the "European Social Model", due to take place in Rome on November 20th and 21st 2008, at the Hall of Deputies. The news was given by a joint release from the organisers: the president of Eurispes, Gian Maria Fara; the director of the Italian branch of the F. Ebert Foundation, Michael Braun; the manager of the London’s "Social Europe" Group, Stephen Haseler. "The Conference they explain is one of a number of events that began in 2005 in order to highlight and address the main problems relating to the building of a real European social model, as a strategic tool for the integration process". The conference will be attended by Italian and foreign experts, delegates of institutions, trade associations and trade unions, staff from the most important associations working in this area. One session of the conference will be focussed on thinking and action in support of the European Social Model by Detlev Albers, co-founder of the European Group, who died untimely last spring.
