(Maria Chiara Biagioni SIR correspondent in Geneva) The spokesmen and communications directors of Anglican, Orthodox and Protestant Churches are ready to form a European network to take this challenge together: "make the voice of the Churches heard at European level". Today, on the day of its establishment, about forty press agents gathered at the World Council of Churches Ecumenical Centre in Geneva to decide "how to organise the network and identify the priorities," explained the spokesman for the Conference of European Churches (CEC) Luca Negro. "The idea to establish the network took shape last year during the meeting of the spokesmen for the European Churches, jointly organised with the Council of European Bishops Conferences (CCEE), which was held at the margins of the third Ecumenical European Assembly in Sibiu. The establishment of a network is more than necessary, as the journalists of the Churches have fewer and fewer occasions to meet and many have experienced increasing difficulties in making the voice of the Churches heard at European level, especially when European integration issues are to be discussed”.
