Freedom of education: Brussels, a survey and a meeting promoted by Fafce

A public meeting to reflect Europe-wide on the findings of the Global Index on freedom of education 2016 will be held in Brussels on November 9th at the initiative of Fafce, the European Federation of Catholic Family Associations. The meeting is supported by Oidel, a Switzerland-based NGO that works in the promotion of the right to education and that ran the survey with Novae Terrae. The meeting will be opened by the president of Fafce, Antoine Renard, while the CEO of Oidel, Alfred Fernandez, will give the opening address about freedom of education “for the sake of pluralism and democracy”. Ignasi Grau (Oidel) will provide details of the results of the survey. “Protection of freedom of education is an excellent indicator of how well a State respects pluralism and how much it is willing to cooperate with society in the area of education”, the organisers explain in the invitation and add: “The survey dispels a few myths about freedom of education around the world”.
