“We all have doubts about our faith. I too have many”, Pope Francis told the faithful off the cuff. “Some may ask”, he continued: “But Father, I have many doubts about my faith, what shall I do? Do you ever have doubts?”. “Yes, I have many”, he replied: “Of course, doubts come to everyone at times! Doubts that touch the faith, in a positive sense, are a sign that we want to know God better. It is good that we ask ourselves questions about our faith, because they help us to deepen it”. For Pope Francis, however, “doubts also need to be overcome. For this reason, we need to listen to the Word of God”. “Catechesis is an important path”, the Pope continued, “and another equally important path is to live our faith as much as we can”. “We should not make faith an abstract theory where doubts multiply”, Pope Francis admonished. “Rather, let us make faith our life. Let us seek to practice it in the service of our brothers and sisters, especially those most in need. And then many doubts will vanish!”.
