WYD 2016: Headlines of Polish newspapers. “Positive and Curious Majority”

“The WYD is a love experience”, pointed out President of Polish bishops, Archbishop of Poznan Stanislaw Gadecki in a special message broadcast by public TV yesterday night, and re-launched by lots of newspapers today. “The meeting of young people in Cracow respects a fundamental wish of every human being: developing links with other people”, stated the bishop, recalling that in a world “full of uncertainties”, the WYD gives us “the chance to find our place in the church and in the world again”. In the pages of liberal conservative newspaper “Rzeczpospolita”, Jerzy Surdykowski states that “a community starts whenever people gather in the name of values”, and then, “in a community, we see the face of the other, and we are ready to give him a hand”, while “a tribe confronting another tribe with its totem and machete” is just “a hate gang”. In short, about the youth days in polish dioceses (20-25 July), Catholic portal www.wiara.pl says that “young people from different countries, with different cultures, languages and colours of skin, prayed and joked together; in big cities and small villages, persons very different from us appeared; sometimes, with different ways of praying”. However, “in spite of a few episodes of verbal aggression, and unfortunately, physical aggression, too, against people with dark skin, most of Polish people had a positive attitude, and were curious about them”.
