Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran “spent all this life at the service of the Gospel and the Church and in the diplomacy of the Holy See, always at the service of peace in the world through interreligious dialogue”: this is how monsignor Georges Pontier, archbishop of Marseille and president of the French Bishops Conference, remembered him as soon as he learnt of mgr. Tauran’s death. “According to him, religions are not the cause of wars in the world, but the world cannot be understood without religions – mgr. Pontier states –. His faith and his courage in the ordeals he went through have been admired by everyone. Through to the end, he served and testified. We thank God for his ministry and we entrust him to His mercy”.
