The Catholic Workers’ Movement (KAB) is holding a social action and fundraising campaign on 9-10 October in the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart under the slogan “Nothing is good if you do not do it”. The event is aimed at people of all ages; it will last 36 hours and everyone will be able to make their contribution by offering some of their time. Throughout the diocese, the KAB will be holding projects and activities to promote the sale of fair trade products, to raise people’s awareness of self-help projects in Uganda in areas with a high presence of refugees from neighbouring countries, and to disseminate information on how to create sources of “ethical funding”; the so-called “Good Business” is the focus of the activities on the KAB’s agenda for 2016/2017. The projects vary depending on the area of the diocese. In the pedestrian area of Göppingen, small conferences will be organised to introduce people to the concept of ethical finance; at Laupheim station, 20 tons of garments collected over the past few months will be inventoried and stored; they will then be treated and upcycled in Uganda under a raw material recycling project. Nordstetten will be the venue for the collection of the so-called “discarded fruit” from local orchards, which will then be squeezed and the juice sold to raise money for self-help projects. And at Heilbronn, bricks will be sold to raise money for the construction of a school in Uganda.
