Fafce: reviving the EU by furthering family life, employment and citizens’ interests. No to surrogate motherhood

(Brussels) “At this moment in history, when rethinking and renewal are called to solve a deadlock, we must work harder”. This has been written by the European Federation of Catholic Family Associations (Fafce) in a newsletter posted just before its summer break as an update on the Federations’ initiatives and the work of the European institutions. The issue of surrogate motherhood is still a priority, in the awareness that “regulating this practice, which is disrespectful of human dignity”, cannot mean “protecting children’s superior interest”. That’s why Fafce denounces the “males with children” initiative due in Brussels in September as “just business”, since part of it will be specifically allocated to providing financial advise when planning surrogate motherhood. Fafce keeps being committed to the “European Sunday Alliance”, advocating the importance of a better work/family balance. In “perfect keeping” with what has been recently said by the European Church leaders in a meeting with the Slovakian government, which is the president on duty of the EU, Fafce writes: “Isn’t it time we said aloud to out political leaders that any building made without reflecting the citizens’ main concerns, work and family life will not be supported by them?”.
